Bequests in Wills and Revocable Trusts

A Bequest to Further Good Work: Dave's Tribute to Nancy

Dave, a longtime volunteer supporter of The Salvation Army, wanted to ensure his dedication would continue benefiting others after his wife Nancy passed away. Inspired by the impact they had witnessed during their marriage, Dave decided to leave a legacy through a bequest.

"The Salvation Army's work was significant to us," Dave explained. "While we've supported them during our lives, I wanted to do something more substantial to sustain their mission." Dave learned about the opportunity to include a bequest in his estate plans through the charity's newsletter. He decided to revise his will to designate a percentage of his estate to support their ongoing work.

Working with his lawyer, Dave ensured his wishes were clearly outlined. Dave shared his decision with The Salvation Army, who expressed gratitude and invited him to join the Hope Brigade legacy society. "Being recognized for my commitment was a meaningful gesture," Dave said. "It reinforces my belief that our support will make a lasting difference."
